Videoton FC which came first in the Hungarian football league is set to fight it out with FC Sturm in the second qualifying round in the UEFA Champions League. The Austrian Bundesliga champions FC Sturm will face off with the winner of the Hungarian football league on 13th July and 20th July.
Videoton FC won the Hungarian football league for the first time in 2010-11. Before this they have been runner's up in 2009-10. They have played many times in the UEFA Cup and once in the UEFA Europa League but this is the first time they will play in the UEFA Champions League.
The season for the new Hungarian football giants was set by their Brazilian forward, Andre Alves who is the highest goal scorer for the season with an impressive 20 goals. The management of the Hungarian football club had earlier let go off manager Gyorgy Mezey in May but have now announced former Portuguese legend, Paulo Sousa as their new manager with a 3 year contract. This change has been made with the future in mind with the Champions League qualification rounds approaching this summer.

Roberta Vinci beat Irina-Camelia Begu of Romania 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 in the final of the 2,00,000 U.S. dollars Poli-Farbe Budapest Grand Prix women's tennis tournament on Sunday. The tournament in Budapest witnessed Vinci winning the first set 6-4 and losing the second set where Begu broke Vinci's serve thrice, thereby forcing a third set in the Budapest Grand Prix.
Begu went 4-3 in the third set but Vinci stole the show by winning the WTA title as well as the 37,000 dollars first prize.
After winning, Vinci thanked the public and said that even though the tournament took place during a heat wave in Budapest, it was "tiring" but "a great tournament". Begu is yet to win her WTA title and was happy about Roberta's victory.

The Budapest Municipality has made a deal with Alstom, a French train manufacturer for their upcoming underground metro train project; the Budapest Municipality cracked the deal after long hours of debate.
The Budapest Municipality hammered a proposal of12 point package, whereas Alstom already agreed to the 11 point package of proposals. Therefore a deal on a force major case the last point has been recently sealed. However the intricate details of the final agreement will be discussed at the Budapest Municipality's general assembly.
Previously the Budapest Transport company withheld its contract with Alstom, actually the deal was put an end on 20 October 2010 as Alstom was supposed to deliver 22 trains Budapset Metro2 line at a price of 150 million EUR. Whereas 22 trains worth 114 million EUR were needed for the new fourth metro line, but Alstom failed to obtain the manufacturing approval.
